Word documents

Share the wording, without the names you choose to hide.

Prepare a Word document before asking AI to summarise or rewrite it. Highlight a name, email address or private phrase in the extracted text. Each exact match becomes a consistent label you can restore later.

Opens .docx files and creates a fresh text-based Word or text copy. Original layout, images, headers and footnotes are not preserved.

Illustrative example. Document examples use fictional details, not a real person's records.

From your document to a usable answer

  1. 1

    Add the Word document

Choose a .docx file. The workspace reads its body text locally, including table cells as paragraphs. Check the extracted content before choosing details.

  2. 2

    Highlight what to replace

Select a name or phrase and choose Replace selected text. Or type the original detail into the optional entry. Exact matching occurrences are replaced together, not just the highlighted occurrence.

  3. 3

    Share the prepared copy

Choose Word or text for your download. The matching list saves automatically in this browser. Use with AI gives instructions to copy, followed by a place for your own first question.

  4. 4

    Restore the returned wording

Bring the AI answer back as a supported file or pasted text. Keep the complete REF_ labels in the answer so Adaped can replace them with the original wording.

Review the content, not just the file extension

This is useful for a text-first proposal, meeting note or report where you want help with the wording. It is not a tool for preserving a finished Word layout. Tables are flattened into paragraphs, so check that headings and values still make sense together.

Headers, footers and footnotes are omitted. Images, comments, tracked deletions and original metadata are not copied into the new file. If an omitted section is needed for the AI task, prepare its text separately rather than assuming it was included.

Choose every spelling that matters

Exact text replacement does not know that Alex, A. Morgan and Alex Morgan might refer to the same person. Select each version that you need to hide. A name with a different spelling or punctuation can remain visible.

Possible matches can offer likely email and phone patterns for you to review. They are suggestions, not a complete check for names, addresses, confidential terms or all identifying details. You remain in control of what changes.

Know what stays on this computer

The document is processed in your browser, not uploaded to Adaped's server. Downloading the prepared copy saves the extracted original and matching list in this browser profile. Anyone who can use that profile can restore its saved details.

Use .docx files up to 8 MB and 250,000 extracted characters. Older .doc files, protected documents and images containing text are not supported. Try a fictional example first and use an organisation-approved AI account.

Before you start

Will I get the original Word formatting back?

No. Restoration puts the selected text back into a fresh file. It does not rebuild the original page layout, tracked changes, images or table formatting.

Does this make the document fully anonymous?

No. A reversible label removes the selected text from the copy, but other wording can still identify someone. Check the remaining context and your organisation's rules before sharing.

Updated . Describes the current app; use fictional data first.

Start with a document you are comfortable testing.

No sign-up. Choose the details yourself. Check the copy before sharing it.
